Loaded Chocolate Protein Milkshake Wannabe

This Loaded Chocolate Protein Milkshake Wannabe is the only thing I am drinking these days because this dairy-free smoothie has two servings of vegetable, a fruit, added protein, and will keep you full until noon!

The Ingredients

What is in a Loaded Chocolate Protein Milkshake Wannabe you ask? Well it’s packed with the BEST stuff for you, tastes like a chocolate peanut butter banana milkshake dream and is so creamy that it leaves you wanting more, but without the dairy. This drink has me looking more forward to it in the morning than my cup of coffee does!

The ingredients you need to make this at home include spinach, cauliflower rice (or cut up cauliflower), a banana, some peanut butter powder and chocolate protein powder, honey, unsweetened almond milk and ice.

To make things easier, you can buy the spinach and cauliflower rice in bulk and freeze. Costco sells 2.5 pound bags of spinach for about $3-4. Take the giant bag home and freeze it into gallon sized Ziploc bags so it doesn’t go to waste.

The Peanut Butter Powder

Earlier this year, I tried PBfit’s Original Powdered Nut Butter and this is a game changer!!! The serving size is 2 tablespoons (which I add into the smoothie) and there are 8 grams of protein in this and only 70 calories. It has about 87% less fat than regular peanut butter.

This stuff is perfect for adding to smoothies, oatmeal, ice cream, you name it. Add it to anything you want that peanut butter flavoring without as much fat or calories.

Amazon has the 30 ounce container of Organic PBfit powder for $11.99. This is exactly how much I spent at my local Costco earlier this month so don’t miss this deal!

The Chocolate Protein Powder

Finding a protein powder that isn’t chalky or tasting like something the exact opposite of what it claims to be is hard to come by. That’s why I use Integrated Supplements’ Whey Isolate Protein Powder in chocolate.

This protein powder is hardly noticeable in this Loaded Chocolate Protein Milkshake Wannabe. It has the perfect amount of chocolate flavoring where it does not overwhelm the flavors of banana and peanut butter, but complements them quite nicely.

Another great thing about this protein is that you can typically find it at your local grocery store. Our local Kroger is not one of the big fancy Kroger stores and they still carry it! I always feel intimidated going into those protein powder/nutrition stores like GNC so picking it up at Kroger or ordering on Amazon is perfect for me.

The Almond Milk

Let’s talk almond milk…do you get the regular kind or do you get unsweetened? I recently started going for dairy free substitutes to help with my skin. Almond milk was a no-brainer to use in place of regular 2% milk.

I’m always looking for ways to cut out sugar, so getting the unsweetened version made the most sense. Why soak up your daily sugar intake on something like milk?! Save those grams of sugar for something good like Salted Caramel Cookie Bars!

Moral of the story – when choosing better foods for yourself, find the ones with the best ingredients.
