Time Saving Tips

I get it…cutting up a ton of fruits or veggies can be a workout and a half. Here are some ways to cut down some time or cut corners on prepping this fruit salsa even faster.

  • Use a food processor for the apples and strawberries. I love my 7-cup KitchenAid Food Processor because it goes right in the dishwasher after using it. It cuts cleanly and evenly and saves me from doing all the work.
  • Skip out on making your own Homemade Cinnamon Tortilla Chips. Is homemade always better? I certainly think so! However, it’s okay to go with the pre-made chips sometimes. Stacy’s Cinnamon Sugar Flavored Pita Chips make a great replacement.
  • Prep it ahead of time. Okay this isn’t really saving time, BUT making something the night before you plan to eat it absolutely releases some stress in planning and making something the next day. The lime juice in the salsa will help preserve the fruit overnight so it’s still fresh.
  • Cut the fruit into larger pieces. I recommend in the recipe to cut the fruit into the size of a pinky fingernail. However, this isn’t required! When the fruit is smaller, it resembles more of a traditional salsa or pico de gallo texture. Save time though and cut the fruit pieces a little bigger! It’s still the same ingredients so your flavor won’t be compromised.

Ingredients for the 5 Ingredient Fruit Salsa

  • 1 large apple – I use Honeycrisp or Granny Smith.
  • 8 ounces of strawberries
  • 6 ounces of raspberries
  • 1 kiwi
  • 1 tsp lime juice

Instructions for the 5 Ingredient Fruit Salsa

  1. Wash all fruit thoroughly.
  2. Peel the skin off the apple and kiwi.
  3. Cut the apples, strawberries, raspberries and kiwi into tiny pieces, about the size of your pinky fingernail.
  4. Combine all fruit in a bowl with the lime juice and stir until well combined.
  5. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days for best results.

Ingredients for the Homemade Cinnamon Tortilla Chips

  • 8 medium sized round flour tortillas
  • ¼ c granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Cooking spray

Instructions for Homemade Cinnamon Tortilla Chips

  1. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Stir together the cinnamon and sugar until well combined.
  3. Using a pizza cutter, stack the tortillas in a pile and cut into 8 even sized triangle pieces on a cutting board.
  4. Spread out the tortilla triangles on a baking sheet evenly and spray them with cooking spray.
  5. Using a spoon, sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the tortilla triangles. The cooking spray helps the cinnamon sugar to stick to the tortilla.
  6. Bake in the oven for about 10-15 minutes. You will notice the tortillas bubbling a little bit and they are finished when they are lightly browned.
  7. Tortilla chips are best served the day of making them.
