Two Ingredient Homemade Creamy Peanut Butter

Growing up, eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch was a staple. I would have this on wheat bread with a side of chips or cheese crackers and usually two Oreos without failure. On the “healthy” days, I would pack myself a turkey and American cheese sandwich…haha!

Anyway, peanut butter was always a constant in my life, lunches, baking in cookies, giving my dogs their medicine, etc. Never did I think until the past year or so that I should make my own. Now, there’s no going back.

You can make this perfectly textured creamy (or crunchy) peanut butter right in your own kitchen with just two ingredients…yes, TWO! Just some peanuts and honey, that’s it.

Creamy Two Ingredient Homemade Creamy Peanut Butter

What do I need besides peanuts and honey?

The key to getting creamy homemade peanut butter is to have a high power blender that can turn anything into a perfectly consistent texture.

We had an old blender that was gifted to us when we first started living together in the early 2010s. The blender was perfect at the time, but it doesn’t quite work the same as it did in its glory days.

Recently, we upgraded to the Ninja Foodi Cold and Hot Blender and I think I’ve used it 90 out of the past 100 days. Seriously…

Despite the pandemic, we have gone on a couple trips with just our parents and I’ve even packed our blender to take with us! I make a smoothie with it almost every single morning for breakfast. On top of that, it crushes and pulses things down perfectly leaving no piece of food un-blended.

I know this version is a little pricey, but I would pay for it all over again because of how well it crushes and blends foods. It’s perfect for making salsas, dips, smoothies, Two Ingredient Homemade Creamy Peanut Butter, and it even cooks things for you like soups and warm dips!

Don’t have a blender? No problem!

If you do not have a blender, or you’re not ready to upgrade to the only blender that can change your life (see above), then a food processor will do the job just fine as well!

If you don’t have a food processor or blender, well then roll up your sleeves and get to mashing and cutting peanuts by hand. Actually, I would just go buy some natural no added ingredient peanut butter at the store at this point…or borrow a blender. Ha!

Crunchy Peanut Butter More Your Thing?

No problem! Run the blender with your ingredients for less time to get a less creamy finished product. Additionally, you can add whole peanuts to your finished creamy product if you’re more into creamy peanut butter with big pieces of peanuts throughout. It’s 100% up to you!

So Easy Making and Storing

With just two ingredients and only one tool needed, this is perfect to whip up any time of day or night. For every cup of peanuts you use, you will need about 1 tablespoon of honey. To get a more creamy texture that you may be used to in the store, you can add just a few drops of vegetable oil. I would not recommend adding more than a teaspoon for every cup of peanuts.

There are several types of peanuts out there and I encourage you to experiment with them. I used Planters Dry Roasted Peanuts. For a sweeter option, try using Planters Honey Roasted Peanuts. For peanut butter with no salt added, go for unsalted peanuts.

For this amount of peanuts and honey, it will yield about half a cup of finished creamy peanut butter. Store it in your pantry and use within about 2 weeks for best results.

Ingredients

  • 1 c peanuts
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil (optional if needed for creaminess)

Instructions

  1. Add peanuts and honey to the blender and run on high for 30-45 seconds or until desired texture.
  2. For a more creamy texture, add the vegetable oil. For a more crunchy texture, run the blender for less time.
