The cookies that have everything – sweet and salty, moist, the perfect small size but loaded with flavor! Every bite has something new in it.
What makes these cookies so moist?
Wait…before I start…is everyone still disgusted by the word “moist”? I never understood that so I’m going with it.
When I was a kid, I always made chocolate chip cookies and mostly because I just wanted to eat the cookie dough. People started expecting me to bring them to family gatherings though. One time a neighbor even came over to watch me make them because she couldn’t understand why my cookies always turned out a certain way. She wanted in on the secret of a 12 year old baker haha!
Anyway, back then I created a happy accident in the kitchen because our family was close to running out of butter. I had to substitute something for the other half of the butter in the recipe so I used half a cup of Crisco. Now, every cookie recipe I share or make, I use half Crisco and half butter for a moist and soft cookie.
Make them your own!
These Everything Cookies were born out of having a few bags of baking chips close to being empty. Use what you have in the pantry to mix up what’s inside these cookies. Potential options include:
- Any variety of chopped nuts – pecans, walnuts, you name it!
- Pieces of caramel candy chopped
- Raisins
- Oatmeal
- Chopped candy bar pieces
Sweet and Salty for the Win
I love that salty sweet flavor combination so I love adding a little sea salt to my cookies. At my local grocery store, all I can ever find is coarse or fine sea salt, which is great in a pinch! Get it?! However, I had been vying for that flaky sea salt that you see in bakeries and finally found some on Amazon. This 8.8 oz box is enough salt to last for a really long time and only cost $6! Highly recommend.
