Traveling, whether by plane or car, can sometimes take a toll on our everyday meal and snack options. With a little planning ahead and organization, packing some snacks can prevent you from picking up some fast food or convenience store candy along your way.

Recently, I took a day trip for work and was going to be in the car for a dreaded 3.5 hours each way for an hour long meeting…the torture, I know!

Hunger always strikes me harder in the morning so I wanted to be sure to pack extra goodies for myself so I didn’t succumb to another Starbucks iced coffee with a toasted bagel on the side. Instead, I packed four snacks to ensure I had enough to eat on the way there and back. I opted for a banana, some grapes, a Clif bar (mint chocolate chip for the win) and some plain Cheerios…I swear I’m not a toddler.

These snack options cured my hunger and made me feel more prepared to think clearly for my meeting and gave me something to look forward to for the drive home. With a little planning the night before, you can avoid choosing the convenient, yet, yummy, candy bar and cheddar Combos.
